Can I brag for a bit here?
I've been looking for work for the summer since my glorious return to Canada. About three weeks ago, I met with my former boss for coffee and to catch up. I totally consider this woman my mentor. She was amazingly supportive of me at my first job and let me do all kinds of cool stuff. She even brought me on a media tour under the pretence of needing an assistant, but really so I could observe that kind of thing and get more experience in the field I want to work in (communications/media relations).
Anyways, I didn't expect anything more than a reference, but she created a summer position for me on her team! I'm so excited! I'm going to be involved in all kinds of cool comms projects at her new organization. I might even get to travel a bit to some universities where they're sponsoring research. And best of all, I won't be working in retail or as an unpaid/underpaid intern!
GT, how do I thank this woman? I mean, I thanked her profusely over email, but I'd like to take her out to lunch or something. What do you think?
