Met him for the first time yesterday afternoon for coffee. I had a nice time. He was polite, asked me interesting questions, had me elaborate on things I'd discussed in my emails, etc. He's also pretty cute. He studied film in college, does freelance work in film and works in a coffee shop to pay the bills while writing.

I have to admit, it's kind of weird to have a nice, normal, relatively simple first date. It seems like every guy I've gotten involved with over the past few years, I tumbled into because of some initial spark of insanely powerful chemistry, which invariably led to high drama and swift heartbreak. I don't want to think that sudden chemistry is always something to avoid, but, I definitely see how I have thrown caution to the wind and gone "all in" based in my feelings and intuition, while ignoring all logic and red flags....and, that's yet to play out for me in a positive way.

So. A nice, normal, low key, not creepy, non-oversharing, easy going first date was nice. He said he'd like to see me again and I said sure. So, we'll see. I'm not in the market for something incredibly intimate or serious (given what I described above) but a make-out/cuddle buddy who wants to have dinner and watch movies occasionally would be a-ok with me.
