I just got a 1/2 mL decant of Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford. I'd heard good things about it, and it sounded like a wonderful scent for me. But, I've heard that before and usually am disappointed. After seeing the price for a full bottle I hoped this decant would be another disappointment and at least I would know. Instead, I have fallen in love. I hate it when I love expensive things! I balked at buying my current go-to Hypnotic Poison by Dior at $75 for 1.7 oz. Paying nearly 3x that for Tobacco Vanille seems both crazy and tempting.
I can't speak all the fancy perfume words to describe base notes and top notes and dry down. But, in my opinion it smells like somebody smoking expensive cigars while wearing a leather jacket.
I tend to love the men's inspired or unisex scents, and I think this one is a perfect example of that. I could see a guy wearing this and smelling awesome. But, I think the slight hint of vanilla keeps it from being too masculine. Of course, since I often wear "men's scents" I might not be the best judge of that. It would definitely not be the right scent for anybody that prefers light, fresh, or floral scents. Now if only it weren't so expensive!
