I posted a few months ago about some potential baked goods for a contest I’m entering next weekend. I have, of course, completely revised my plan, and so am in need of additional advice.
Instead of the pumpkin spice latte cupcakes I’d been planning on, I’m going to do imitation hostess cupcakes. I have the chocolate cake and filling down. But I’m not sure if I should do like a thick chocolate frosting recipe like this (this recipe is also the cake recipe I’m using) or if I should do like a ganache instead.
Ganache would be fancier, but would it taste better? Or be true-er to a real hostess cupcake? I’m not sure, and I have of course not left myself enough time to test both, because I like to live on the edge.
