Due to the announcement of the new Cinderella movie. WHY ARE THEY BOTHERING? They should just re-release this one.
This one has a heroine that saves the prince (in a hilariously emasculating manner) as well as saving herself. It passes the Bechdel test, has realistic, complicated mother-(step)daughter issues, and is still romantic. There are multiple fully-fleshed out female characters with different personalities that avoid stereotypes. I loved it as a teen, forgot about it until now, but I think I'm back in love!
Not your average fairy tale.
