I was on my way home from work, and as I'm driving down a major 4-lane street I see a woman with a small child step out into the street at the corner I am coming up to. I slammed on my brakes, but she was completely clueless that she was crossing against the light. Somebody yelled something at her, and she then - at that moment - realized what was happening. I was in the right-most lane, and a car came speeding up behind me in the next lane over. He couldn't see her because my car was blocking his view of her. Instead of retreating to the safety of the sidewalk she decided it would be better to continue crossing the street!!! What the FUCK?? The car behind me had no time to slam on his breaks! I was screaming "NOOOOOOO!"at the top of my lungs. It was one of those moments where you scream hysterically with your hands on the sides of your head. The car missed this woman and young boy by about 6 inches. I am NOT exaggerating. I wanted to cry. My heart was beating so fast I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Jesus. Why do people cross huge busy streets against the light??? WHY???
