I know this is a topic that comes up every once in a while, and it amuses me every time. Today, I’d like to share the ridiculous recipe review I found.
My cousin shared this recipe for Mug Macaroni and Cheese. Basically, you microwave the pasta and water in a mug until the pasta is cooked/the water is evaporated. Then you stir in milk and cheese. She suggests using pre-grated cheese for the convenience and because the non-stick starch on it makes for a thicker sauce, but also says you can use fresh grated cheese but add some cornstarch or it might be a little thin.
On the recipe there is a review in which the reviewer states “I guess if one needs Mac n cheese in a couple of minutes, which I guess is your point, ok…but I love Mac n cheese with good cheese and good milk.” Nothing is preventing her from adding milk from her dairy to the mug, and the recipe says you can use whatever cheese you want. Her “much better” recipe then has her boiling the pasta in a pan, adding grated cheese, milk, and butter. Literally the only difference between her “superior” recipe and the original is it is made on the stovetop and has butter (which isn’t even a reason she lists as to why hers is better...but is the only improvement I see).
I think I at least prefer the ones that go “I subbed all the ingredients except one, and my version is much better” because at least their “better” recipe isn’t almost exactly the same as the original.
