The BBC did an interview with a 91 year old woman who is now working in Silicon Valley. Her life has been amazing- from the time she was a child she was always pushing against the barriers that society wanted to put in her way. It reminds me of the time when I was volunteering in a retirement home as a teenager. A woman there was telling me about her life and I was blown away at the stories she had to tell (working for the Dutch resistance, world travel, thankful she’d never had children because she could do so much more), and how much I wanted to live a life worth telling.
I think if I ever had time I’d love to just start interviewing older women, listening to their stories, and publishing them as a collection.
