You guise, I just made a cake! In the microwave! It didn't even take very long. The whole process from me deciding "Hey, I want to try making one of those cake in a cup things" to me eating the finished product took less than 20 minutes. I didn't like the look of any of the recipes I found online, so I made my own version because I had a jar of maraschino cherries sitting around, and here it is.

Cherry Vanilla Microwave Cake

Cake:
1/4 cup flour
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract - I like a lot of vanilla, put less if you want

Frosting:
4 maraschino cherries, halved
A tsp or so of the liquid from the cherry jar for color
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tablespoon butter or 1/2 tablespoon margarine, softened
1/2 tablespoon milk
1/8 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Use Pam spray or butter to grease a large coffee mug
Stir dry ingredients, then add the milk and vanilla extract, stir. Pour batter into coffee cup. Microwave for one minute, then 15 second intervals until done. Then pop it into the freezer for a minute or two to cool a bit.

For the frosting, combine all ingredients (minus the cherries) and whisk. You could use an electric mixer to turn it into real buttercream, but I just whisked it together and it was thin but fine. Stir in the cherries. Spoon frosting over cake, and enjoy.

Unfortunately I don't have a camera so I can't show you a picture of the cake, but it turned out great. I feel so accomplished!

Well, honestly, I feel a little icky, because I wolfed that sucker down in like a minute. But still!
