My son's father and his wife announced a few weeks ago that they were expecting a baby. My son, who is now 6, was so excited to finally be a big brother. They found out on Friday at their ultrasound that was supposed to reveal the gender that the baby no longer had a heartbeat and that she was in the beginning stages of a miscarriage. We have not told my son yet because none of us know how. I had a miscarriage 3 years ago but my son was too young to really understand any of it. Now I just don't know how to break it to him that he is not going to get to have a little brother (it was a boy). Does anyone who has experience with a miscarriage and an older child have any advice on how to address it with my son? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
