I am trying to make this crock pot recipe:

But I am using a small Rival crock pot (either a 2 or 2.5 quart size, that has low, medium, high, and warm settings. Due to that, I cut the recipe down by half. So my beef is only 2.5 pounds (and had been defrosted in the fridge), used only 1 cup of soup etc.


Here's the thing, it's been on for 4 hours on high, but it's still not cooked. I pressed the top of the meat, and it was still bloody. Am I doing something wrong? Will it take longer to cook in this smaller pot? Was this a bad idea? Should I quit and call for Pizza now?

Any and all suggestions will help!
