Over on the Drunkspin post, some guy pulled the "Craft beer guys, buy ladies fruit beer because they love it!" and when I tried to explain that that's bad advice, it ended up with this:
"I'm beginning to think that you feel that anyone who doesn't appeal to your specific tastes is considered a "condescending asshole."
Okay, allow me to actually be a condescending asshole to you right now. There are hundreds of ways men can be sexist in their treatment of women, both knowing and unknowing. Sexism in the work place is still a considerable problem. Domestic violence plagues our society. These and many more are issues that should be discussed. Yet you with your misplaced pride are trivializing all of that by making buying a person a beer in a bar a feminist issue. The fact that you like a more hopsy IPA than a fruit beer does not make you a feminist, it makes you a person who likes hopsy IPA's. Acknowledging that women have different tastes than men is not sexist, treating one set of tastes as being superior to the other's is."
I just...I can't. LAUGH WITH ME PLEASE BEFORE I START CRYING.
