When I heard the news that Adrian Peterson had been indicted for child abuse, was "shit, he was my first round pick!". I am a bad person but I had the first pick in our GT Fantasy Football league and I picked Adrian Peterson, because he is reliable and talented.
I know that makes me a bad person, that my first thought was fantasy football.
Can we discuss though that this kind of child abuse, the overtly aggressive and damaging "discipline" seems to be socially conditioned? people were disciplined like this, as their parents and grandparents were so because it's not spoken about they continue to use the same kinds of discipline.
A lot of people are commenting on the Deadspin article and I imagine twitter, "if this is a crime my parents should be in prison" or "well my dad switched me and it didn't do me any harm" and these types of comments are part of the problem.
