I'm making very decent money, and I desperately needed to update my wardrobe and get some decent makeup and skincare. I got new clothes (tops and cardis,) new shoes (one pair athletic, and one pair cute work shoes) and an entire new makeup and skin care wardrobe at Ulta. I still need to get new bras, a few new pairs of jeans (that actually fit), some nice leggings, a few skirts and another pair or two of shoes.
But it feels wrong to spend so much, even though I buy at discount stores and shop sales. I've been so broke for so long...I've probably spent less $500 on shoes, clothes and makeup in the last 4 years. I don't spend recklessly and everything I buy is important for my professional image and career. But there's a big part of me that's screaming "SAVE ALL YOUR MONEY." Part of that is because my job is weird and drama-filled, and I have no idea if I'm going to be there past December. I know I'll be fine if it does end. What I do is in high demand, and I'll have great references, recent work experience, and a prestigious win on my resume. But part of it is that I've gotten so used to holding tight that it's really hard to let go, even when it's smart to do so.
