I’ve almost never heard anyone talk about salaries, dude or no dude. I’ve been working for thirty years, and the only people who have discussed salaries have been quiet whispers from women who worked at the same agency I was working for. Of course, anecdote ≠ data, but she’s relating anecdata too, so. Salaries are the most taboo topic of all, a habit that companies encourage and sometimes even write into the rules. That shouldn’t be the case.
