So remember how yesterday I was bitching about my coworker insisting I was wrong on a style point that I was definitely not wrong about?
She complained to our boss that it was really rude and condescending of me to go to the source and refer to the actual rule. And my boss was basically like, “Well, she’s been here longer than you, so you should just do whatever she says whether she’s right or not, and also it’s completely inappropriate for you to be airing our dirty laundry in public.”
Apparently asking for a style clarification on a site that’s behind a paywall and posts questions without any identifying information is airing dirty laundry in public. And we don’t follow AP style so much as AP style except for any rules my coworker doesn’t like.
