I've being thinking about the Questlove quote I posted, and how the cops reacted. I'm beginning to think that it's better to talk about racist acts than racist people.

I don't want to say "Everybody's A Little Bit Racist," because that's like saying "everybody's a little bit homicidal." The fact that we joke about strangling someone shouldn't excuse someone who actually does the strangling.

But it made me think of this article Breeze linked to, and how I'm not sure that shaming racists works other than to make the so-called non-racists feel better about themselves.

I guess I'm saying that we should describe behavior as racist (or sexist, homophobic, etc) rather than define people as racist.
