First a confession.

I've often called people out on GT for taking the MP too seriously, for expecting too much from it. It's just a blog, I've said. What's the big deal? Well, I think I finally understand where many of you are coming from because I'm genuinely sad about Lindy's departure.

Having a woman (or two, if you include the fabulous Laura Beck) talking openly on a mainstream website about what it is to be a fat woman in this world has been completely life changing for me. My body was a source of shame to me for years and years. Lindy's take no prisoners honesty has been such a gift to me over the last year as I've started on my path to self acceptance. I'm also a fat woman in comedy, much like Lindy. I've been able to personally relate to so much about what she's written about vulnerability and being on stage in bodies like ours.

I don't have a problem with the cat articles and the gross out articles on the MP, but I think that the new EIC will be doing the readership a huge disservice if she doesn't hire another writer who lives the issues that fat women live every day. I don't want an author who's going to take the "fat beat," but another Laura or Lindy who writes about what they know, because what they know and aren't afraid to write about keeps so many of us in the shadows.

ETA: I'm not looking for a debate on Lindy's writing. If you think she's some sort of horrible garbage monster feel free to write your own post on the subject.
