Has anyone watched it? It’s on HBO.
I confess I never read the book, but wow the movie is intense. Oprah is incredible as Henrietta Lacks’ daughter- you can actually forget that she’s Oprah. The most powerful moment is Deborah standing in a research lab, with her mother’s live cells projected onto her and the wall behind her. Just...wow.
The only thing is, at some points, the movie is about the Lacks family. At some points, the movie is about a white reporter who won’t let even the Lacks family stop her from telling a story. But I’m not great at critical watching, so thoughts?
