I posted this at lifehacker today:
We're meat-eaters and I've always kept an eye on the grocery store flyers (now websites and apps) for the cheapest pieces of meat, and work from there with the idea that at least 3 of our meat meals will include that sale item. I detest chicken breast, but it's on sale this week. Soooo, I hit the internet for inspiration, or remember that wait, we actually love piccata and I haven't done it in forever. Hmm, bell peppers and pineapple are on sale too... Sweet & sour stir fry would be good with chicken instead of our usual pork.
Basically I turn it into a game.
Also: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/tasty-l… (I know, allrecipes, but trust me) with these: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Fry-Bre… make me cry that I'm low-carbing. They're lentil fry-bread tacos, and they are dirt cheap and everyone (meat-eaters, Jezebel feminists, and kids!) loves them. ETA: Just the frybread from that 2nd recipe.
And realized I'm not sure I've ever shared the amazing combo of lentil taco filling with frybread for Lentil Frybread Tacos. (I thought about it for UncleK's meatless Friday meal, but decided to make pizza instead. I think I'm having parmesan-fried - lowcarb- zucchini. All of it. All the fried zucchini.)
