So I had an interview this afternoon that quite clearly did not go very well, and I don't really expect to get the job. However, there's another position in that office opening up that's more suited to my qualifications, so despite wanting to run away and never look back, I don't want to burn any bridges. Etiquette dictates that I follow up, and I need your advice!

What should I say in this follow-up when it's quite obvious that I'm not going to be chosen for this position? And if I was interviewed by four people, do I have to send each person an individual follow-up, or can/should I send a group email thanking everyone for their time? Please help. Thanks!
