So Justin Trudeau is appearing at a private fundraiser. This is the invitation.
My first reaction when I saw it (my husband send me the pic with no explanation) "WHOA, that is really sexist." I was upset. For reals. It is just so gendered, and all I could think when I read it was that they are insinuating that women would attend simply to flirt with Justin Trudeau. Based on the invitation there wasn't even any indication that political policy would be discussed.
Not surprisingly the other parties in Canada are jumping all over this calling it sexist. Regardless if it is sexist or not, this is negative press for Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party.
Niki Ashton, the MP for Churchill Manitoba, hit the nail on the head during her Member's Statement yesterday.
Michelle Rempel (Conservative), the Minister of State responsible for Western Economic Diversification went on the CBC news with Evan Solomon and basically was a feminism rockstar (I couldn't get the video to embed -_- but the link will take you to the video). Look, I HATE Michelle Rempel's stance on everything political, but I love how she stood up for women (in this instance) and explained why the ad was terrible.
Many people seem to think that it is being blown out of proportion.
What do you guys think?
