Welcome To The Bitchery

It never rains but it storms (to quote CajunGinger)

Usually, it’s everyone else’s health problems I’m dealing with... now it’s my turn!

I’ve been getting pain in my right side, up under the edge of my ribs for several weeks, off and on. This happens sometimes... I had a terrible gall bladder attack about 9-10 years ago, and I didn’t want to have the surgery if it wasn’t absolutely necessary, so I went on a fat-free, spicy-free, booze-free diet for awhile, and things settled down. After awhile, I started adding stuff back in, and, other than a few twinges now and then when I overdo it, I’ve been ok.

Friday morning, I woke up most definitely not ok. Couldn’t take a deep breath, couldn’t uncurl, could barely stand up... total misery. It got worse, and I finally gave in and let Other-Husband take me to the doctor. The doctor immediately started making noises about urgent surgery, and put in an order for the surgery department to call me Tuesday morning. Other than that, he told me to be careful what I eat (duh), gave me percoset, and made me swear that I’d go immediately to the ER if I got a fever/chills/sweats/vomiting. (The doctor I saw I have literally known since I was born.)

I had to stay home from Faire both yesterday and today, because there was just no way I was strapping into the whole getup with the bodice and everything. If it wasn’t literally 95F in the shade, I would have given it a try, but I was honestly concerned about passing out. I feel so bad leaving my manager/friend in the lurch, especially on closing weekend, but she said they have enough people and not to worry about it. I’ll have to go tomorrow to pick up my stuff, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to work, still.

I’m still hurting, although not as bad. I’ve been super careful what I’ve been eating (extra bonus: I got my period yesterday, so I’m crampy and hungry along with in pain and nauseous), been sitting or lying down most of the time, and the rest of the family has been watching kids. I’ve been camped out at O-H’s, mooching off his air conditioning and internet :) so it’s not all bad!

I don’t think I’m going to be able to avoid the surgery this time :( I hate surgery. I mean, no one really looks forward to it, but I REALLY hate it. Anaesthetics don’t work very well for me :(
