I should make it a tradition to read this Cracked article every year.
Do the math: How much of your time is spent consuming things other people made (TV, music, video games, websites) versus making your own? Only one of those adds to your value as a human being.
Every time I read it I end up completely motivated to become the best me in the new year, and I'm given a kick in the pants to stop consuming so damn much. I always get caught up in "I haven't read enough books", "I'm not caught up with all the best TV shows", etc. when I'm left to my own devices, worrying about not consuming enough instead of giving back to the world by honing the skills I do have and creating shit.
Time to go kick this year's ass.
