This photo has been all over the internet today, and I don't know how to feel about it. I had no idea this was happening before I saw this, but apparently Jason Segel is playing DFW in an adaption of Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip With David Foster Wallace, by David Lipsky.
I've adored DFW with a deep-seated fangirl mania for over 15 years and I'm almost irritated that Jason Segel would think he can play someone so brilliant, so complex, so nuanced, so insightful. Or is it not fair to write him off as the doof from How I Met Your Mother and various romcoms so forgettable I can't actually remember a title? I don't find him objectionable as a human being, just the fact that he would bring his particular style of ham-handed over-emoting to portray someone who was a real person and whose death still feels very recent.
