Happy Sunday, all! You ready to talk books?
This week, I thought we’d do a self-help book thread, as we never have! This is definitely inspired by all the awesome folks who suggested By the Book on my most recent podcast rec request. So many people mentioned it, I had to try it and I am now a diehard fan! Like, why aren’t there a billion more episodes yet?
I listened to their most recent episode yesterday and am thoroughly convinced I need to read What to Say When You Talk to Yourself! :) And, even if you hate self-help books, please at least check out this podcast—it is so good for believers and skeptics alike.
Anyway, what are your feelings on self-help books? Genius? Jokes? Have you found any that really help?
And, as always, please tell us:
- What book did you most recently finish?
- What are you reading now?
- What’s next on your “to read” list?
- Do you have/need any book recs?
Oh, and guys! I have a few books to get rid of. If no one here wants them, that’s no problem—I can leave them at one of the Little Free Libraries near us. But I thought I’d offer them here first. Books up for grabs include:
Sarah Vowell’s Lafayette in the Somewhat United States (hollaaaaa, Hamilton fans!)
Judy Blume’s In the Unlikely Event
David Lagercranz’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web
Ross Mathews’s Man Up!
Nnedi Okorafor’s Who Fears Death
If you’re interested, let me know in the comments. I will ship them to you for free. As long as they’re going to a good home. ;) Um, also, they are probably completely covered in cat dander and fur so, if you’re allergic, ya know. Watch out.
