A friend posted this on Facebook this morning:
After having a good giggle, I started thinking... what are the things common in public education that we could do without, and what are missing that should be core curriculum?
Here’s my #1:
Learned - Cursive: Useless. I never use this, no one uses it. I spent SO MANY HOURS learning this! KidK is almost 5 and starts Kindergarten in a few weeks. I hope by the time she’s at the right age for it cursive writing is dead.
Should Have Learned -How to feed myself: My mother was a good cook, and I know how to make tasty food. What I could have REALLY used was some education on nutrition and budgeting to allow me to feed myself healthy meals with limited funds. I’ve learned this over the years, but I could have saved a lot of money and been a healthier person with a little education and focus on this topic.
What are yours?
