It’s that time of year again! Time to fake that summery glow!
Here’s a reasonably complete list of what I’ve used and my super-important opinions. I’m rather obsessed with makeup, so please share your feedback and recommendations in the comments!
Smashbox discontinued matte bronzer called something like Sunkiss. Most natural finish of any I’ve used. Probably also confirmation bias since I can’t find it and haven’t worn it in years, that it’s the best thing ever.
This looked really nice over foundation, but if I just wanted to throw some on bare skin or even bare skin with primer, did not apply well.
Bare Escentuals Warmth. Me and everyone else in the Midwest has tried that. Works okay, but too warm for me. Also looked like crap on my if I didn’t wear the foundation and the finishing powder.
I tried Pur Mineral’s once. Only once. Their entire line smells like fucking Crayola crayons and I couldn’t deal with that all day. Color was nice, though.
Similar problem with Too Faced’s Milk Chocolate bronzer, I smelled chocolate all day and I wanted to eat all the things.
Also, I couldn’t get an even application with it. Similar problem with Too Faced’s eyeshadows. I suspect the formulas work best with their Teddy Bear Hair brushes and I don’t own those.
Urban Decay’s Naked Flushed bronzer has been my favorite the past 3 years or so.
I can just use the bronzer part, actually do some contouring, or just swirl my brush through all three for a glowing look. Works on bare skin really well, too!
Benefit’s Hoola made me look dull and kind of sallow. https://www.benefitcosmetics.com/us/en/product/…
Tarte’s Park Ave Princess is okay. It’s kind of a workhorse for me, in that it’s not the best I’ve used but it’s consistent and lasts forever. You get a deluxe sample from Ulta or ipsy, and you’re good for months.
I haven’t noticed any difference between the waterproof and regular ones, but then I haven’t worn it swimming or for water ballet. (not that I do water ballet, but if I did, you bet your ass I would have awesome makeup for this activity)
I just got the deluxe sample of Benefit’s new liquid bronzer from Ulta and Be A Bombshell’s bronzer in my ipsy bag. Pretty sure I’ll create a few messes trying the liquid. The Be a Bombshell looks a little too shimmery for me, but we’ll see. It might work really well as a highlighter in that case.
