I want a Bachelor’s degree. I went to community college right out of high school, but I had no idea what I wanted to do so I just bounced around for four years. Could’ve had a degree in that time, I know. I was working and raising a toddler and just not in the right mind space to actually focus on school. I eventually decided culinary school was a better fit and did complete that, but it wasn’t a degree program. Now, with Little about to start her second year of high school, I’m looking at being child-free by 35 and realizing I have a chance to do whatever I want. I was going to wait until she was out of the house, but why? I’m not working right now and the programs I’m interested in are available online from my local university so there’s no excuse.
This is really exciting and kinda scary! Going back to being basically a freshman at 31 feels awkward, but I think the online classes will help with that. I’m sending in a request for my transcripts from the community college so I can figure out exactly where I stand. My enrollment counselor is awesome and very understanding of my situation (returning student, not quite sure what I want to do). I’ll be talking to her again on Monday once I’ve had a chance to look over all the info she just sent me. Depending on how everything goes, I could be starting as soon as next month!
