Paul Gatling an 81 year old black man just had his wrongful murder conviction overturned. He was convicted in 1963 but served 9 years before his sentence was commuted. This man spent 9 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. And he was still viewed as a felon after his release. I cannot even imagine how hellish that experience must of been for him and his family. This is why I oppose the death penalty. I do not trust the justice system to get things right. Both the police and the prosecutors acted improperly and stole this Gatling’s freedom.
