The Canadian government has pledged to take in 25 000 refugees by the end of 2015. The provinces have all announced how many of that total they are willing to take, and when you add up all the provincial targets, they exceed the 25 000 the federal government has pledged to take in.
Someone should tell all those American governors.
Or not, because then they’ll start talking about a wall along the border again.
I don’t mean to be smug here. Canada had been pretty slow on the refugee file under the Harper government. The change speaks volumes about the value of leadership.
