For WW2 we had swing, resurgance of jazz and the Andrew Sisters. For Vietnam an incredible amount of music especially antiwar. Vietnam saw the peak of folk music, rock taking a political antiwar edge. Just watch the musical documentary Woodstock for a smattering of the best music of that era, music that reflected a sentiment about the war all negative. Seriously people should see it this movie documentary Now we have been in two wars lasting over a decade and little if any music reflecting that we were even in a war. It seemed like some musicians and especially the music industry have ignored these wars and pretended in a way these wars are not happening. Watching last night's PBS Memorial Day concert all music were old music, actually it seems any show honoring the soldiers of the Afghan/Iraq war uses standards. Or is this my imagination?
