NPR has a great article today about miscarriage, some misconceptions about what causes a miscarriage, and why people need to talk about them more often.

β€œA lot of other conditions that people used to speak of only in hushed tones, like cancer and AIDS, we speak about a lot more.”

β€œI felt alone until I realized there is this big, secret miscarriage club β€” one that nobody wants to be a member of β€” and when I realized it existed, I felt angry that no one told me they had active membership.”

Those who shared their experiences with NPR said many of those myths were repeated back to them by friends, family or colleagues after their own miscarriages. One said someone blamed her high heels. That kind of talk can be incredibly painful, even if you know you have the facts on your side.
