Salut mes copines Canadiennes!
Next Monday my father and I will be heading to Montréal for a little Christmas adventure. Wondering if there are any GTers who live in or have visited the city and what you would recommend to do?
Neither of us have been before. We’re taking the train up and back and basically only staying for 48 hours (he’s visiting me for 10 days and frankly I was stuck on what to do with him for that long so we’re taking a side trip to kill time). No agenda yet. I’ve been so busy with Christmas shopping and the like that I’ve barely had time to look at a guidebook. I did check out the New York Times’ 36 Hours in Montréal piece so that’s a start, but I would be much more trusting of your recommendations.
We’re AirBnB-ing it right between La Petite-Patrie and Plateau Mont Royal. Dad is older and kind of slow but down to walk around so that’s more or less the plan for now. Just wander and see what we see.
Anything we shouldn’t miss? We are also BIG on food so restaurant recs would be much appreciated!
P.S. - The train ride is 11 hours each way...wish me luck.
P.P.S. - Anyone else going away on a holiday jaunt?
