And, usually, it is. It really is. Usually, I can make Ms Word do tricks like a dog on a sit-com.

But not today.

Today, it chooses to ignore me and my wishes. And for some reason, yelling at the computer is not helping.

I am trying to make a bulleted list. Easy-peasy, right? Should be. I have a series of questions that were sent to me in an email. Four, as a matter of fact. To avoid re-typing and possibly making errors, I cut and paste them all into a notepad doc to remove all formatting and the dash the sender includes at the beginning of each question because I don’t want that in my pretty bulleted list, thank you, then copy and paste again into my word doc, select the whole thing and apply bulleted formatting with my nice little arrow-character at the beginning of each question. Except, every single time, the last question comes out on its own line, without a damn bullet.

Ø When you hear, “Triune God,” what comes to mind?

Ø What are some of the concrete ways God has revealed God’s-self? In scripture? In your life?

Ø What was Nicodemus trying to discover or grasp when he came to Jesus? What did Jesus offer instead?

Rather than trying to make God fit into your story, what is one way in the next month you could seek to see how you participate in God’s?

See that? WTF? I can go up to the penultimate question and manually add a carriage return, which will of course give me another bullet in between it and the last question, and I can then cut and paste the text of the last question into that bullet, but I can never delete the carriage return after the last question or it all reverts.

So, I end up with this:

Ø When you hear, “Triune God,” what comes to mind?

Ø What are some of the concrete ways God has revealed God’s-self? In scripture? In your life?

Ø What was Nicodemus trying to discover or grasp when he came to Jesus? What did Jesus offer instead?

Ø Rather than trying to make God fit into your story, what is one way in the next month you could seek to see how you participate in God’s? *carriage return*

*carriage return*

Ok, you see that extra carriage return? Can’t get rid of it. If I try to delete the final one, the one on its own line, it doesn’t delete. If I try to delete or backspace over the one at the end of that last question, the last question suddenly loses its bullet. Which wouldn’t be a super bad thing, and I would just get over it, but this list is the last thing on the last page and there’s space before it for people to write in, so if it’s not all the way down at the bottom of the page it looks bizarre. That extra carriage return either pushes it up so it’s not level on the bottom of the page, or has to go and sit on a page all by its lonesome little self, and I have to tell the printer to only print pages 1-2 instead of the whole document. Which isn’t a big deal, but is stupid and annoying and dammit Word, why are you being such a dumbass? I do this every fucking week, and it’s really getting old. The auto-format settings don’t seem to make any difference, or maybe I just don’t know the right one to manipulate?

I really don’t like having to type in the last question, since that ups the opportunities for typos and such. Any thoughts? Clippy, why hast thou forsaken me?
