I was inspired by Hello_My_Lover's post earlier today to start thinking about getting a pair of boots to wear to work for the fall/winter. All of my old work-appropriate shoes either don't fit anymore (post-pregnancy) or are falling apart. I work in a relatively casual environment (teach at a college) but I still need to look put together and adult since I'll be standing in front of a room full of people.

I used to have a pair of tall riding-style boots that I loved and wore basically all the time, but I am wondering if that is too casual or young a style for my purposes? Would a pair of short boots, maybe something like this, but hopefully less expensive, be better? More versatile? I'll be working almost right up until my baby is due so I need something with a low heel that I can wear mostly with dresses and leggings/tunics.

It's been awhile since I was starting from scratch and would only have one pair to wear, so I could use some opinions.
