Things which are part of nerd-dom but you can’t seem to get behind. Or maybe just aren’t part of your nerdiness, but seem to be part of everyone elses.
I picked up Felica Day’s Bio. I love The Guild. As a recovering World of Warcraft addict this seemed liked a good purchase. I didn’t read the smallish, or not so small font
Foreword by Joss Whedon.
I started to read it and then they started to talk about Dr. Horrible Sing-a-long and I closed the book there. I couldn’t get through the foreword. I don’t know when I’ll read it because I couldn’t stand that foreword. Yes I know I can skip it, but reasons I can’t control won’t let me.
I can’t explain to you why I didn’t like Dr. Horrible, I was forced to watch it by an ex, which was fair because I’m pretty sure I made him listen to WoW parody songs. I didn’t laugh once, except maybe that hammer penis line. I didn’t like it. I don’t know why, I was bored. SO BORED. OMG I will never get that time back. I’ve blacked most of it out.
I can’t explain why other than it feels like there’s something missing from his work and I can’t put my finger on it. Like all of his characters are puppets which seem to be slight variations of the same person or how he thinks people could act.
Other confessions. Bruce Boxleitner, I screamed “OMG THAT’S BRUCE BOXLEITNER!!” and when you saw me, and I looked mortified that you heard me scream your name, I hid behind someone. I was too excited and embarrassed to say hi, because omg you are John Sheridan and Tron, but I can’t control the volume of my voice.
Star Trek V and Into Darkness are not terrible. They are watchable. In fact, Into Darkness while problematic is a lot of fun. Nemesis is so terrible I haven’t watched all of it because I like myself too much to hurt my brain that way.
What nerd confessions do you have?
