New study pinpoints exact number of points for making an argument

Useful for the next time you fight with your sexist/racist/classist/otherist family/friend/coworker/random unsolicited comment maker.

You will be at your best when you make exactly three points for your argument, according to a study from Georgetown and UCLA. (Kinja is being a dick and making me past the URL, so here: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/05/fas… )

Back in my college days of persuasive arguing and journalism classes, the training was always to make your arguments in odd-numbered batches (3 arguments, 5 arguments, 7 arguments, etc., although the "rule of three" was popular in limited newsprint space) This is the first time I've seen it pinpointed at exactly three.
