OMG drunken thinker conversation. OT

Hi guys! Not dead yet. Totally on the edge of introvert implosion, but hey! Wine! Lots of wine. It’s required to deal with the people politics. But at least the alcohol fueled discussion is interesting, and I got room service breakfast in my own quiet room yesterday with the excuse of having a deadline for deliverables. (Which I met. Couldn’t repeat that today though, because I had a breakfast meeting.) And 2.5 hours to myself this afternoon, which I spent writing things and sending them to people. It has been breakfast meetings and all day meetings with working lunches and dinners with people and breakfast meetings and leading workshops and social evenings and AAAAARGH! The “real shit” hasn’t even started yet. And I’m still jetlagged.

Lunch was a pizza slice and Dunkin’ Donuts. I honestly feel like my biggest accomplishment of the day was giving the girl working the counter some foreign coins. I’d grabbed the US-looking currency in my piggy bank on the way out the door, and it turned out that among the quarters and dimes were some 5 and 10 pence coins sterling and some zloty. When I was trying to find the right change for an iced coffee and a cruller while dealing with low blood sugar, it turned out that I made someone’s day because she collects coins from different countries.

This evening’s alcohol fueled discussion included debating with someone with a great deal of gravitas, professional weight, and several grandchildren (so gravitas of age as well) whether “Greater motto margin” meant anything more than someone’s nonsense intellectual trick a couple decades ago. My wine-bolstered position was that you might as well be discussing “Greater shoe value”, because it means about as much.

In the meantime, I haven’t been to the gym since Tuesday, and I still have a food baby from yesterday. I may be dead come Friday. Cheers! It’s a reminder though . . . I have no idea how I ended up where I am really, but as much as I’m going to see very little of the city I’ve travelled to for the first time, I’m so lucky to have the experiences I do and be able to go some of the places I have. I wish that fortune on everyone. I also wish for some time to myself that is not sleeping. And enough time to go to the gym that is somewhere in the hotel.
