I was going to do a post about what I list as most beautiful songs ever. Number one really nothing close is Judy Garland’s Somewhere Over The Rainbow. This was done in 1939 a young Judy singing with hope and longing.
This is same song done in 1955 same lyrics, same song yet sung with despair and hopelessness. I know she had major troubles with drug addiction and had a suicide attempt. This song is Judy’s no one else it also reflects like a mirror of her soul the young Judy hopeful, older Judy worn down by life. Her eyes are so telling in both versions. She is dressed as a hobo (homeless person an archiac term but that’s the term she would have used).
