So hello everyone, for my first Groupthink post, I thought I would do a travel post. For most of my travel around the country, I use Amtrak. It’s pretty inexpensive and it’s reliable to me. I also know a lot of people in the Kinja-verse work and don’t have time to search for travel deals related to Amtrak. So... I thought I might do some searches on promotions for you all to save you the time.

For all of these deals, if you choose the discount fare:

Up to two (2) children ages 2 - 12 may accompany each adult at half the discounted (full) adult rail fare.

If you choose the regular fare:

The same rule applies for children.

Seniors (age 62 and up get 15% off)

Student Advantage, Active Military, AAA members, Passengers with Disability, NARP, and Veterans get 10% off their fare.

If you’re traveling to and from Philadelphia, tickets to DC (as long as they are purchased in advance) are as low as $40, to NYC $41, to Boston $69. From NYC it’s as low as $52 to both DC and Boston.
