The crew came driving down the street, whooping and honking at 9 last night and then one porch light came on, then another. We thought it was only working for folks across the street and were like, Well, that’s good—they’ll get to us tomorrow, I bet. Then I looked over and saw our next door neighbor had a light on. Homey ran downstairs to turn on the breakers and Praise Jeebus! We ran outside and started cheering the work crew and a few neighbors joined us. One guy from the crew was walking past and I yelled, “WE LOVE YOU!!!” and he was really embarrassed but said thank you, then kind of trotted off. :)
It’s possible that, once we walked back indoors, Homey and I both might’ve burst into tears. Just a possibility, is all I’m sayin’. He was like, I know we didn’t actually accomplish anything but it feels like we completed some big goal or something.
And now I have working lights and fans and everything. :D I get to make and eat food not on a grill!
Their goal was to have everybody back up by midnight today and I know we were some of the last ones (we got so many texts over the last week: Was it today? Everyone on FB says they got power back today!) so I’m just really hopeful that the remaining folks get theirs back today. 🤞🤞🤞 These crews, and the city crews, have been working really hard and really long shifts and they are so appreciated!
