Welcome To The Bitchery

Hey friends. I have decided to hire a personal trainer. I recently got a significant raise at work and was trying to think of a treat-yo-self present for myself, and I decided this is it. Well after I bought a whole bunch of other things. Haha.

I have had a hard time keeping up with exercising and really don’t do well like, arranging a balanced program for myself. I kind of hate exercising and don’t know how to measure my progress and I just want some individualized attention. Also my knees are a mess right now (so I’m visiting a doctor first about that), but since most exercise is making them hurt lately, I am hesitant to do this without the assistance of some professionals.

Anyway, I have never done this before. Any tips? I have a significant amount of weight to lose, but this is much more about how I want to be strong and in shape. I really don’t want some meathead yelling at me (in fact, I will only consider a female trainer). I also want to make sure that if my doctor has some sort of instructions regarding my knees, they respect that (I only mention because I have a friend who had a bad experience with a trainer kind of acting like her very real injuries were just her being a little bitch or something).


I don’t even know where to start or what kind of questions to ask or what I might be looking at. I want to make sure it is someone sensitive and supportive - my cousin is a trainer and while I’ve never hired her for myself, based on her social media presence she is a real fat shamer and I’d be horrified to have to deal with that.
