Teachers in San Francisco live in the most expensive city in the country. A modest raise was passed by voters earlier this year.
It looks like that’s going to be held up in courts because of tax advocates down in Orange County.
There is now a $181 million budget surplus. Our mayor has signaled that she intends to use most of it to combat homelessness rather than use $60 million to cover the teacher raise our city voted for.
Many of my co-workers took their positions or held off on leaving SF because of these expected raises.
