Michael Christian Martinez, the skater from the Philippines (and their only athlete at the winter games) finished 19th yesterday, and will now be getting a $10k bonus from the MVP foundation. His parents had stated that they'd used their house to finance this Olympic dream, and that unless he gets seen and gets other support, they don't think they could do this for another 4 years. He's only 17 and crazy-flexible, and with the time and attention, he could be a contender. I'm glad someone has noticed, and I hope others keep noticing. Because when he comes back and dazzles the world, I will be the first in line to see the movie about his journey.
