Welcome To The Bitchery
Welcome To The Bitchery

My daughter gave me a beautiful sweater-top that she bought in Southeast Asia. It is made of either wool or pretend wool and has tasteful little sparkles of glitter on the outside, and no care instructions. I have worn it twice for special events. Both times it retained a pit smell after a few hours of wear, but was otherwise clean. I washed it in the machine on delicate in a laundry bag the first time and laid it flat to dry (I trusted the machine to wash it better than I trusted myself) and laid it flat to dry and that worked fine. But I want to wash it overall as little as possible so as not to wreck it/wash away the glitter. OTOH I don’t want to inflict my stale pit smell on whoever’s sitting next to me at a concert.

Is there a safe way to get rid of pit smell that won’t require washing the whole garment? Alternatively, has anyone used underarm shields, and how did that work out? (The top has super short sleeves so I’m not sure how practical that would be.)
