So the theme this six weeks is "identity," and we are supposed to be covering drama and poetry. And everything the other teachers want to do feels either realllllly outdated, really irrelevant to my students, boring, or just reiterations of the last six weeks, which was heavy on racial issues.

I want to move on to other aspects of identity, and I thought maybe gender roles would be a great place to go.

So I'm looking for poetry that addresses both the expected male gender roles and the female gender roles, and how either can be oppressive or liberating — anything, actually. I just am looking for things that address as many sides of the coin as possible. Stuff that I can teach at a high school level.

Suggestions would be fabulous!
