I did one of these two weeks ago, but I think it may need to be a semi-regular thing because we could all use a little more positivity. Sure, if you're an American, in the words of a friend from high school: "I can confidently say that I could run this country better if I was the head of the government and my staff consisted of a used napkin, a dog, a pretzel, a crazy cat lady, a twizzler, and some dirt." But we're alive, Groupthink, and there are floating hedgehogs out there, and that's really all that matters.
So come on, Groupthink. What are you grateful for/appreciative of/happy for today? (Thinly-veiled bragging is totally acceptable as well.) Try to think of at least one thing. It's like Thanksgiving, only unlike at my childhood Thanksgivings, no one will roll their eyes if you say you're thankful for books.
I'll start. I'm super grateful that I'm lucky enough to have money saved so that I can travel this year. For all my complaints (mostly to myself) about how I can't spend money the way my friends do, I know this isn't an opportunity everyone gets (or that I thought I would get, for a while).
Also, today I discovered that the 40 cent coffee machine on campus also dispenses tomato soup, which pretty much made up for my shitty morning.
