Welcome To The Bitchery

This is finally the weekend of my tattoo appointment! I’m still super excited that I found a local female artist that does work in the style I wanted.

So now, I’m starting to prep for it, and wondered if you have any good advice? I’ve started to compile some from the internet, but most of the lists are pretty general, so I was wondering if you have anything that doesn’t appear on those lists that really helped you.

This is my second tattoo, but the first one was a little piece of flash in one solid color. This is going to be a 4-5 hour session with lots of line work, and potential coloring (depending on time I might have to go back for that next month).

  • The town I’m getting it in is an hour and a half away, so I’m planning on heading down the night before so I can get a good night’s sleep.
  • I’m planning a good breakfast the next morning with no coffee (!!!!).
  • I’ve started planning a bag that will have things like orange juice, a snack (any suggestions?), my tablet, and headphones just in case.

My big problem is what to wear. It is going to be a outer thigh piece. But, some factors to consider are that I hate having my thighs touching, and it is going to be about ~20°F the day I’m getting things done. I was thinking a tank jersey dress so it could be easily moved around the area to be tattooed, but also tucked between my legs to keep them from touching. And then a scarf and a sweatshirt for layering depending on how my body decides to react. Maybe loose sweatpants underneath. I keep having to remind myself the goal is to be comfortable, not look good.

Any other suggestions or advice?
