Any craft beer drinkers here? (Boyrax, I will cry if you browse my posts and open this one before you get back to school after Christmas break, I'm not kidding. Don't do it.)
Okay, I love surprising people with gifts but Boyrax isn't like that, and we agreed that I would get him some nice beer from back home for Christmas. But then he said "no just help me buy a PS Vita memory card instead", which is miserable to me because I'm one of those people that loves picking out thoughtful gifts that surprise people. To mitigate this I'm going to surprise him with one or two beers from back home but tell him my only present is helping him pay for the memory card. But before I was going to be on the phone with Boyrax when I browsed beer so he could tell me what he was interested in, and since I'm surprising him it's no longer possible. Backstory over.
I live in southern NJ, near Philadelphia. I'm hoping to get something that he can't get in Indiana, Ohio (where we just went for nice beer), or San Diego (where he's from). I got this idea because a liquor store near me decided to make themselves into the craft beer hub of South Jersey so they have lots of things, so I should be able to logically find what I want there, right? Luckily Boyrax has told me so I could tell other people what kinds of beers he like. He told me once if he could make his own 6-pack of beers, it would be "Stone Ruination IPA (or RuinTen IPA), Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, Alesmith Speedway Stout, Three Floyds Zombie Dust, Russian River Pliny the Elder, Westmalle Dubbel". He also really likes Stone's Enjoy By series. Basically everything that has a high rating on Beer Advocate he has agreed with and said they were really good, so I don't feel like he has strange tastes, right? Not that I would know or anything.
When I get to the liquor store I plan on asking one of the guys working there to help me out, but anyone here have any ideas of where to start? Things to avoid?
